- Take 1/4th cup of milk add vinegar to it. It would form an instant buttermilk. Mix it well and keep it aside.

- Now keep a strainer over the bowl and add maida, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda & strain them. Mix everything well. Now add the prepared buttermilk to it.
- Give everything a good mix. Now add vanilla essence to it. Then again mix it well.
- Now add few drops of red food colour to it. Again mix it well.
- Now for pre-heating, take a kadai for pre-heating with it’s base covered with salt and a stand over it. Cover it and pre-heat the kadai for 3 mins on high flame and then 7 mins. on medium flame.
- Now grease a cake tin with some oil and pour the red velvet mixture into it. Now place the mould over the stand and quickly cover the kadai. Now bake it on a low flame for 35 to 40 mins.
- Let it cool down then demould the cake & cut them into pieces.
