  1. Take 1/4th cup of milk add vinegar to it. It would form an instant buttermilk. Mix it well and keep it aside.
  2. Now in a bowl, add sugar, then add curd & melted butter to it. Mix everything well.
  3. Now keep a strainer over the bowl and add maida, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda & strain them. Mix everything well. Now add the prepared buttermilk to it.
  4. Give everything a good mix. Now add vanilla essence to it. Then again mix it well.
  5. Now add few drops of red food colour to it. Again mix it well.
  6. Now for pre-heating, take a kadai for pre-heating with it’s base covered with salt and a stand over it. Cover it and pre-heat the kadai for 3 mins on high flame and then 7 mins. on medium flame.
  7. Now grease a cake tin with some oil and pour the red velvet mixture into it. Now place the mould over the stand and quickly cover the kadai. Now bake it on a low flame for 35 to 40 mins.
  8. Let it cool down then demould the cake & cut them into pieces.
