  1. Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease a cake tin with some butter and dust with some flour. In a bowl, add milk and coffee powder and mix. Sift together refined flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into another bowl and mix well. Add butter and brown sugar and mix well. Add vanilla essence and walnuts and mix. Add mixture and mix well.
  2. Add buttermilk and mix till well blended into a batter. Pour batter into prepared tin, tap a little and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove tin from oven and cool cake down to room temperature. Remove cake from tin, cut in to slices and serve.
