- Steam the cabbage for some time, paste the soaked dal, in a plate take all the ingredients for the dal-cabbage cake
- Mix all the ingredients properly
- Heat a kadhai with 1 tablespoon oil and saute the dal cabbage mixture till it starts releasing the kadhai.
- Take a greased plate and put the mixture, make square shape, let it cool and cut it in diamond shape
- Put rest of the oil and fry the diamond shaped cake till golden brown, Now fry the potatoes
- Add the clarified butter in the kadhai with the rest of the oil put whole cumin seeds and 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida and bay leaf.
- When it starts releasing aroma add the 1/2 teaspoon ger paste and saute, add the dry ingredients with little water and saute till it releases oil, add salt and sugar according to the taste, add the fried potatoes and water for the gravy.
- When the potatoes are almost done add the fried dal cabbage cake, cook it till you get the required gravy add garam masala, switch off the flame.
- Serve with hot steam rice
